What made you decide to try CrossFit?
My daughter Karlie was doing the Friday night lights workouts. My wife and I went to watch her. I was so proud of her and impressed by her and all of the athletes. I told my wife I thought I would really like to try it out. We had just eaten. I was so stuffed, pants tight, and was not feeling so great about myself. After we left I told myself it’s time for a change. I started going and have barely missed a day since.
What is your favorite part about Empowered Living Company?
There are so many things I love about ELC. But if I had to pick one I would say all of the great people that go there and the coaches. Everyone is so positive and helpful. A real family atmosphere.
What’s your favorite movement, lift or workout?
I like anything with dumbbells, squats, pull-ups, rowing, running, burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, barbell workouts. Pretty much everything except OVERHEAD SQUATS!!
What’s one milestone you’re most proud of so far?
Finishing the Murph workout and the ELC games. I was so nervous for the ELC games but I was able to finish everything. The ELC games were so awesome. I can’t wait for next year!!!
What are some unexpected benefits you’ve experienced since starting?
I feel so much better!! Not only physically but also mentally. I’ve become friends with a lot of people that I would have never known if it wasn’t for ELC. Going there seeing the positivity and how nobody judges anyone has made me want to be a better person.
What is your next goal you plan to crush?
I’ve been working on muscle ups and it is definitely a work in progress. Also, working on just trying to keep up with Tony Schultz!!!
What advice would you give someone walking through the Empowered Living Company door for the first time?
To come to classes for a month and you will be hooked. It will become something you look forward to everyday. The hardest part will be making yourself take a day off!
