Membership Spotlight January 2019- Dawn Kisgen!

What made you decide to try CrossFit?

My daughter Morgan had been going to CrossFit classes and after seeing the improvements  and strength she gained, it inspired me. She always came home with a smile on her face and loved telling us about the workouts. She kept encouraging me to give it a try, she know I would like it. I started going and got addicted, now I hate to miss a day.

What is your favorite part about Empowered Living Company?

I love everything about ELC! The awesome coaches and great athletes create such a positive environment. The workouts are amazing! Everyone there is so helpful and friendly. I love the aspect of group fitness, it is so much better than working out alone. I love being a part of the ELC family.

What’s your favorite movement, lift or workout?

It’s really hard to choose a favorite, I like them all, but the Bear Complex and rowing are a couple favorites.  I love that every day there is a new workout that challenges me to improve myself and get stronger. You never know what the WOD is until you walk in the door and I love that anticipation.

What’s one milestone you’re most proud of so far?

I am most proud of the overall strength I have gained in all lifts and movements, also being able to hold a plank for 5 minutes.

What are some unexpected benefits you’ve experienced since starting?

I have increased energy and motivation after coming to classes. I have better mental and physical strength. I am also enjoying new friendships that I’ve made since joining.

What is your next goal you plan to crush?

Just to keep getting stronger week after week and recording some new PRs. There is always something to work on and improve and challenge myself with.

What advice would you give someone walking through the Empowered Living Company door for the first time?

Just try it once and you will be hooked like I was.  It’s so much more than just a gym. It is a warm and welcoming environment from both the coaches and the other athletes. It took me alot of courage to walk in that door for the first time, it was out of my “comfort zone” but I am so glad I did it. Just give it a try, you won’t regret it!
