Membership Spotlight August 2019- Trevor Seales!

What made you decide to try CrossFit?

Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. once told his son, and future POTUS:

“Theodore, you have the mind but not the body, and without the help of the body the mind cannot go as far as it should.  You must make your body.  It is hard drudgery to make one’s body, but I know you will do it.”

I knew nothing about CrossFit when I first came to ELC.  I actually just thought it was the name of the gym.  Never realized it was a thing.  But I had heard stories for at least a year and a half about ELC’s impact.  I could see how ELC was helping other people become the best version of themselves.  It seemed like ELC was a place that developed bodies to carry the heavy dreams in the heads and hearts of its members.

What is your favorite part about Empowered Living Company?

The members.  Period.

What’s your favorite movement, lift or workout?

Kipping.

What’s one milestone you’re most proud of so far?

Completing a WOD after six months of rehab to my back.

What are some unexpected benefits you’ve experienced since starting?

Motivation to go.  I’ve never “wanted” to go work out until I came to ELC.  I can’t explain it.  It just feels natural to go.

What is your next goal you plan to crush?

Complete 1 WOD RX without any scale or modification.

What advice would you give someone walking through the Empowered Living Company door for the first time?

You don’t know what you don’t know.  I didn’t know I had more family in this world.  But I did and you do too.  You’ll find them when you walk through that door.  Just a bunch of humans standing shoulder to shoulder trying to find the same thing you are: the best version of you.  No egos.  No mirrors.  Just people experiencing the hard drudgery of making one’s body.  Don’t look at that door as a threshold to a gym.  Look at that door as the next step in developing your body to carry your mind as far as it should go.
