1. What made you decide to try Platform Strength Training?
I work next door to ELC and was very intrigued by the people I saw coming and going and even more intrigued by the noises I heard coming from the gym! I was convinced they were flipping tires in there! 😉 I started asking questions and hoped that ELC would be the right fit for me. Over the last 2 years I had worked really hard at making serious changes in my life with my fitness and nutrition but I was missing the strength component. I fell in love with ELC and was totally hooked after my first session with Cate!
2. What is your favorite part about Empowered Living Company?
There are so many things that I love about ELC but my favorite part is the people, without a doubt!! Everyone is so positive and supportive and works so hard every single day! I look forward to every morning and every class and being with these people that are helping me be a better me!
3. What is your favorite movement, lift or workout?
My favorite movement is wall balls and my favorite lifts are deadlift and back squat.
4. What’s one milestone you’re most proud of so far?
The milestone I’m most proud of so far and something I never expected was how I have learned to embrace going outside of my comfort zone. I never know what workout, lift, or move will be on the board but I still get up early every day and face it, ready to work hard with a positive attitude and do my best no matter what obstacle is put in front of me!
5. What are some unexpected benefits you’ve experienced since starting?
I am the happiest I have ever been. I know that I look at things in my day to day life in a totally different way than I did before. I try not to think “I can’t” but rather “I will” and that’s because of ELC. I really feel like part of a family where every person is just trying to be the best version of themselves!
6. What is your next goal you plan to crush?
I really want to be able to do pull-ups!! And I want to get better form on some of the more difficult lifts like cleans and front squats…getting high elbows!!
7. What advice would you give someone walking through the Empowered Living Company door for the first time?
Don’t be intimidated! ELC is a place that radiates with positivity. The people that work out here cheer each other on. One of the things that has resonated with me the most is the philosophy of “You vs You.” We are not in a competition with each other but with ourselves. I try to live this every day and be better than I was yesterday and at ELC I have the very best group of people pushing me and believing in me that I can do just that!!
