What made you decide to try CrossFit?
My little sister has been doing crossfit for years. As a gift she got me one month to try it,
knowing I would be hooked. Lee Marie made sure I actually came the first time! I wanted to start weightlifting to be the best caretaker I could be for Noa. I never want my physical abilities to limit her. I always want to be stronger than her needs.
What made you decide to try Yoga?
The sudden onset need to slow down and stretch to maintain good mobility for WODs gave me new found interest in Yoga!
What is your favorite part about Empowered Living Company?
My favorite part of ELC is the energy and the genuine care we share for one another. At ELC we have a collective goal to see everyone be their best selves. Sometimes that looks like cheering each other on, sometimes it’s a word of encouragement or a hug….either way I always leave better than I was when I came in.
What’s your favorite movement, lift or workout?
My favorite lift is the Snatch. It is such a rush to take the bar all the way from ground to
overhead! My favorite workout is the Bear Complex!
What’s your favorite Yoga pose?
My favorite yoga pose is Warrior 1. It makes me feel like a superhero.
What’s one milestone you’re most proud of so far?
The milestone I am most proud of so far is competing in the Granite Games Throwdown. It gave me the chance to overcome fear and it turned out to be the experience of a lifetime!
What are some unexpected benefits you’ve experienced since starting?
I find day to day tasks to be easier. Learning proper functional body movements has followed me into my day to day life. I have eliminated back pain and increased energy and motivation. I love the impact ELC has had on my kids. They get excited to do yoga and exercise at home. I am grateful they will grow up in an environment with positive body image and self care for overall health.
What is your next goal you plan to crush?
My next goal is to complete all of my benchmarks and record all of my PRs!
What advice would you give someone walking through the Empowered Living Company door for the first time?
If someone were to walk in the door to try ELC out for the first time I would tell them they already belong here! There is something for everyone! It doesn’t matter your level of ability or past experiences with exercise. You CAN do this and you will love it!!!
